Mate,
I have found a mix of learning is best to get a true understanding of
lst code. If at all possible, beg or pester one of the data chimps to
give you tips or exchange thoughts for a few months. The nuggets of
wisdom along with explanation of their favorite tools is well worth the
investment of time.
A list of the data chimps can be found on the pcgen wiki, make use of
it! I corresponded with Andrew for several months, and learned a handful
of useful techniques that made my coding excel. Do use the class
documents in the program to gain a basic understanding. Then look at how
the pcgen team has coded up a feature, the importance of this huge. Ask
questions on why they did it that way, the insight is good to understand
the concept model.
Best,
