Re: [pcgen] To bring things level with SRD

Hi Mike,

Instead of work my way through this list, let me give a generic answer.

1) Some of those are already included, you just have to load the correct book.
2) Those are not all "PRD" (See my previous email reply for the correct website)
3) Each book takes about 4 weeks to code (depends on the size of course). That is me donating a few solid hours each day of the week, and I'm a pro at doing this. A new person is probably looking at 6 to 8 weeks.
4) The number of volunteers actively working on new books is low. Means turn around time takes longer.

The active development is:
Pathfinder Unchained - Stefan R. handling that last I heard
(Summoner Support was finished by myself a week ago)
Inner Sea Magic / Gods - I'm helping there.

The flip side is the non-books area, but some major "renovations" and under the hood maintenance. I'm personally undertaking the Archetype code revamp to make it more streamlined, and position it for the replacement formula parser. That is taking about 25 man hours of my time. After that, comes an OS overhaul - probably another 5 hours. Then when we roll out the Formula Replacement probably another 25 hours.

I'm also in an online university and my free time is very very limited.

A misconception here I think is you're measuring by a website - all classes, all weapons, all archetypes, all feats, but we put out books, not individual entries by classes or archetypes. So, the comparison is not apples to apples, but peaches to nuts.

Monk Unchained is part of Pathfinder Unchained - ergo an entire book, you've cited Inner Sea Combat (Released), Inner Sea Magic (In-progress), etc.

Also, to cite the proper page, we need the pdf. We have to reference the Table of Contents, and the OGL license statement. There is a process to keep our release process clean and above board.

We will never be "level" with a 3rd party website SRD. Can't happen. We don't have enough volunteers. Posting text verbatim, versus programming are two different fields, and the programming takes ten times as much effort easily. (Also, that's just the Pathfinder stuff... we also support other systems - D&D 3.5, Killshot, Modern, Fantasy Craft, etc. and have been requested to add more in the near future).

Just to give a fun comparison, me dedicating 8 hours a day, 5 days a week - would net a book about every 2 weeks. Realize that is full time hours. Everyone here is a volunteer, no compensation, thus we have to work jobs, and give time when we can. It keeps PCGen free, but means the pace is slower. Also, since it is volunteers, it's driven by what the volunteer wants to focus on.

Free and open is our goal. If you want to donate time and help get these books rolling, I'll welcome that with open arms.

Cheers,
Andrew

Currently the SRD wiki has a bunch of class stuff that PCGen doesn't (not sure if licensing issues or what) regardless i'm putting together a list of sources which would need to be added to bring PCGen up to speed.
I know this is a lot of stuff. I'm going to put a citation and then a link to content with that citation for each source just so people can see. tbh when i started this i had no idea how much content I would be covering. I compiled this list by adding every single available PF source to my sources and then meticulously going through archetypes and classes and comparing, i apologize if i overlooked anything however this list will be hardly comprehensive at first
