Re: [pcgen] User Experience

Hi rjttux,

PCGen is an open source community, as such joining is a matter of asking. We don't have a User eXperience team as such though. Our teams are designed around traditional functional processes, which have different skill focuses:

Architecture (Java coding) - long range planning and implementation for project longevity.
Code (Java coding) - bug fixes, implementing feature requests.
Content (Various - LST, HTM, XML, XSLT, FO) - Delivery of content by coding in books, updating character sheet exports in various formats, and documentation to help the end user)
Admin (htm/various web knowledge) - Non-program related content such as the web site, maintaining a release schedule, managing the issue tracker (Jira) and generally keeping the project assets operational.
Public Relations (lst insertion for license purposes) - Masters of the Social media, liaisons to the publishers, these guys make sure we have an online presence and comply with publisher license agreements.

So, depending on where your User Experience is focused, it could be code (User Interface), it could be delivery of content or it could be any combination of the teams.

We welcome any feedback and have made special subteams to focus on particular issues - Redesigning the User Interface was one such team.

However, as this is a volunteer project, feel free to jump in and find the problems and what the proposed solutions would be. We are all here cause we want to see PCGen thrive as a program and a community.

If you want to reach out to one of us in particular, these are the ones in handling the various teams:

I handle the content, James Dempsey and Tom Parker handle Code and Architecture respectively, our neighborhood friendly PR is handled by Paul Grosse and the backend administrative duties are kept on course by Anestis Kozakis.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers,
Andrew

Hello everyone! I'm a student at Full Sail University and I'm in the Game Design masters with a focus in User Experience. I was wondering if there was a UX team and how I can join it. ^_^
