Thanks for the quick response. To answer your questions, yes, I realize I am playing in PFS and there are certain restrictions. However, Groetus IS a valid choice for a PFS character (http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2pi2y?Gods-Authorized-for-PFS#1) and I CAN select him from the Deity dropdown on the main page. What does not work is a cleric (or inquisitor in my case) getting things like proficiency in the deities favored weapon (heavy flail). My hypothesis is that because it is marked as not a PC option, it doesn't grant it. My question is, why and where is it set to be not a PC option?
Now, for sources, I do see that "Pathfinder RPG" is selected rather than "Pathfinder Society Organized Play". However, I would think "Pathfinder RPG" would be even less exclusive then PFS Play. Just for testing, I loaded "Pathfinder Society Organized Play" with the default data set and created an Inquisitor of Groetus but it is the same. No proficiency with a Heavy Flail and it still is not bolded on the Domain tab and says it is not a PC type.
Next, based on your suggestions, I explicitly added the Inner Sea Gods and Inner Sea World Guide books to the Pathfinder Society Complete Rules and NOW it works correctly. So, maybe my problem is that I don't understand how the Sources tab works. I had assumed that if I selected a Game mode of "Pathfinder Society Organized Play" which auto selects a data source of "Pathfinder Society Complete Rules", it would truly be the complete set of rules open to PFS play. However, it looks like it only makes some rules and you have to manually add all the other sources. If this is true, is there any game setting that automatically loads everything legal for PFS play?
Thanks!
Brian
