Actually, every cleric gains proficiency with his deity's favored
weapon, regardless of his chosen domains. The War domain grants no extra
weapon proficiencies.

A cleric who chooses not to serve a particular deity cannot benefit from
this ruling and thus gains no extra weapon proficiency beyond simple
weapons.
Note that, if you play by official Golarion rules, clerics on Golarion
must always serve a deity. If you play in any other world, that choice
may be available, though.
